CHANDIGARH: Members of National Federation of Blind protested in front of Punjab social welfare department in Sector 34 on Thursday to press for their demands, which included recruitment of blind and regularization of jobs of non-permanent employees in the state school education department.
The police stopped the protesters, who were raising slogans against the Punjab government, as they marched towards the CM's residence.
Convener of north-west committee of the federation, Punjab, Rajesh Mohan said, "We want 167 blind persons be recruited and jobs of 58 employees be regularized in the department of school education."
They called off their protest after social welfare department director Gurkirat Kirpal Singh assured to look into the demands and take it up with the CM.
